Ragn-Sells Tyre Recycling
Tyre Collection and Recycling
Ragn-Sells Tyre Recycling is a part of the Ragn-Sells Group. We collect and recycle used tyres in Sweden on behalf of Svensk Däckåtervinning AB (SDAB, Swedish Tyre Recycling) and in Norway on behalf of Norsk Dekkretur (NDR, Norwegian Tyre Recycling).
In Sweden and Norway there are regulations on producer responsibility for used tyres. It means that anyone selling tyres on the market must also take responsibility for dealing with them once they have served their purpose.
Tyre workshops and other companies are obliged to receive used tyres, which we at Ragn-Sells Tyrerecycling then collect and recycle. The cost of this is included in the recycling fee that manufacturers and importers charge when they sell new tyres.
Every year we collect about 140,000 tonnes of tyres in Sweden and Norway, and 95% of these tyres are recycled and made into one of the following new materials:
Granulated rubber in artificial grass, asphalt and riding tracks.
One of the most important recycled materials is granulated rubber, which is used in artificial grass pitches, riding tracks and asphalt. Ragn-Sells Tyrerecycling is both a manufacturer and a supplier of granulated rubber.
Shredded tyres for energy recovery and construction
Shredded tyres are another important product from recycling used tyres. The material is used partly for energy recovery since it is a high-quality fuel, and also in construction and civil engineering thanks to the material’s properties as regards drainage, insulation and shock-absorbency.
Whole tyres, tyre treads and tyre sides.
Whole tyres from construction machines are often used as shock-absorbing fenders on quays, while whole car tyres, for example, are used as buffers at motor sport arenas. Tyre treads (the patterned part of the tyre) are for instance used in the production of blasting mats, while tyre sides can be reused as weights for bunker silos.
